TK was not a dog that could be shared with strangers easily. "Look but don't touch" was his motto. He was, however, a very obedient and soft dog who got along well with the other dogs in the household and even enjoyed daycare.

TK was my first medium-sized Nihon Ken and my first Shikoku Ken who came to me in February of 2013 as a neutered pet. He had a handful of behavior issues - mostly revolving around meeting strangers - and helped to introduce me to the challenges of these Japanese boar hounds, developed my ability to problem solve more efficiently, and changed my ideas about how I communicated with my dogs.
We enjoyed a long relationship for meeting him at what many people would consider to be already aged. He suffered from dry eye/poor tear production starting when he was 8 and eventually had a neurological event in early 2020 which lead to the diagnosis of a brain tumor a few months later.
He was a fun and loyal camping and hiking dog who was kind and playful with my Kishu puppies. I've decided to add a couple Shikoku Ken to my kennel to honor him and help the North American population when the community was good to me.
