Nami is more of a "people" dog than a "dog" dog. She does very well in any human-heavy venue but is not a candidate for dog daycare or dog parks. She took a very long time to bond with and train properly. She is very intelligent, but can be difficult to motivate.

Nami is my foundation bitch and the first Kishu Ken I have ever owned - and I could not have hoped for a better dog. Nami has strong expression, tidy movement, and an incredible temperament. I had never met a more stable, outgoing, and fun dog to be around before I welcomed her into my home. I spent many years observing her first litter before breeding her second litter, and as is the curse with a "perfect dog", I was not able to reproduce her in exactly the way I hoped. I did retain two daughters who are very pleasant in their own ways, but Nami is a unique dog, and will always be.
Nami came to me as a dog who was supposed to be infertile. Her previous owner (Gen Murofushi) had not seen a visible cycle out of her by the time she was to come to me at 2 years of age. By that time, she had been proven on boar (and even treed a cougar while hunting.) As it turned out, Nami was incredibly clean and silent in her cycle, which only happened once a year - and it is possible that she had her first cycle at 2 years old. She came to me 5 or 6 weeks pregnant, and gave birth to her (and my) first litter 2-3 weeks later. It was a steep learning curve and an experience as joyous as it was stressful, but looking back now, I wouldn't change it for the world.
Nami has been retired from my program and now lives with me as a spayed companion.
