Chidori is out of Hachidori sou in Virginia, USA. Her breeder is a friend and one of the most active Shikoku Ken breeders in the USA in developing and expanding upon Shikoku Ken health information generationally and this expansive amount of health information was of a large point of interest to me when I made the leap from owning Shikoku Ken as pets to the possibility of adding them to my kennel.
Chidori's father is Hiro, a black sesame import from Japan acquired by Hachidori sou before he made the journey to Finland to Jikino Kensha. Hiro's relatively few number of litters and offspring in only a couple hands made his pedigree of interest to me. His temperament seems to be inherited in Chidori as well, and holds the enthusiasm, drive, and handler-oriented personality I want to strive for. Her mother, Kari, is a full sister to one of Jikino Kensha's imports, Natto, but both Kari and Natto have had limited breeding with few offspring who went on to be represented in the breeding population, making Chidori a relative outcross to my program.
That said, Chidori is not a dog who likes or is particularly competitive in conformation, so you will never see us in the conformation ring. I am hoping that she enjoys barn hunt and rally obedience - two sports with less pressure - and, as with all of my dogs, becomes a solid hiking companion.
Dori was health tested and proven by her breeder before coming to Akiyama no Roushya.
