The first ever Kishu Ken has been officially published to the public database at the OFA.
The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals was established in 1966 to help evaluate health in breeding animals and has since become a mark of responsible breeding among much of the American dog fancy. Joint issues do not appear to be a large concern in Kishu Ken, and joint issues tend to be the primary reason breeders opt to use the OFA database, but it is nice to have the breed represented among the others who have helped pave the way for healthier puppies. Nami received the highest ratings on hips and elbows possible in the OFA system. View Nami's OFA results here.
