I've included pages for Kishu Ken standards around the world: NIPPO, FCI, and UKC.

I'm still working on the project of including a picture-guide for appearance and coat color genetics, but that will take a while longer. I'm hoping to have a page for the AKC-FSS up soon with instructions and resources on how to get a NIPPO dog registered with the AKC. I am still collecting images for our guide to coat color and appearance. If you think you have an image you'd like to submit, here's what I still need:
  • Coat color: black and tan
  • Coat color: red (with and without black hairs)
  • Coat color: brindle
  • Pattern: pinto
  • Pattern: urajiro

Fionna's First Hike

There are a lot of things I could say about this experience, but I think this picture says most of what I want to say.

Fionna was fantastic and acted just as she should, in retrospect. She was totally in her element. It was a lot of fun to be able to watch her - even as a young puppy - do her thing.

She ran off after something at one point, but came back after a handful of minutes and much calling.

AKC B-Matches

Took Nami and her pup to meet up with friends on Sunday, September 21st at a dog show. We had no plans on entering when we arrived, but the registration was open and very tempting. So we did.

Fionna (puppy) took home 4th place all breed female in her age group (4-6 months). Nami didn't have any competition for her breed and group, but took home BOB and 1st place all the same. She went up against Sumiko, our new Kai Ken friend for the rare breed match. Sumiko took the ribbon (congrats to her and her owners!) but Nami and I got some excellent feedback from the judge.

We had the same judge for both of our matches, as chance had it, so that's one more person who has more breed knowledge than he started with! I was so overwhelmed in the environment that I didn't really do a lot of talking with people. Next time!

Our ribbons...
