The Japanese Akita Club of America runs an annual show called the Nihon Ken Invitational, open to the 6 native Japanese breeds, plus the American Akita and the Korean Jindo. We have attended 2 years of the last 4 years of the show, and we are planning on a Kishu presence this year, as well!
CĂșchulainn, Jason, Yuki, and Fionnuala will be in attendance with me on February 9th - the second Saturday of February - in Gardena, California. The Nihon Ken Invitational is a UKC show, and all NK owners are encouraged to show their dogs. Even if your dog is not UKC registered, the UKC makes it very easy to apply for a temporary listing number for any dog that is registered with a recognized/legitimate purebred registry for their dog (for the Kishu, these registries are NIPPO, JKC, FCI, and AKC-FSS.)
